Shootout at the not-so-OK Corral

Mrs A. has been teetering on the edge of a blowout for the last couple of weeks. We have both been hovering on the edge of a major confrontation with the kids.

Some time back I told them that September would be a good time for them to find other accommodations. They basically told us that there wasn't anything available in their price range (free) so we would have to cosign a lease for them to move. This didn't set well with us.

So they have been mooching off of us and "Borrowing" money. You could feel the pressure building up like the air feels right before a thunderstorm.

Mrs. A. was trying to get ready for work this morning when the kids got into a fight. Nothing unusual about that. So it was F this and F that so Mrs A yelled at them to just knock it off. They took exception, so she told them to just get the Hell out.

They called me and told me that in order to move they need $450.00. That is $200 for a trailer and $250 for a space in a Trailer Park.

I told them I would be home at lunch time to give them the $200.00, and could give them the rest tomorrow. It is worth it to me to get them the heck out of our house, but mostly for Mrs. A's peace of mind.

I told them some time ago that they had to set the goal of moving in September. Well, it's September.

You think it'll stick? They'll both survive and come up with next month's rent?

you did good, Al. It is amazing how well people do when they get out on their own. When they know the money and housing fund has been exhausted then somehow they always manage to pay their bills. Good luck and I hope Mrs. A. gets some peace now.

I don't envy you... my kids aren't that old yet but my son is getting close, just a few more years and he'll be ready to leave the nest.

Rick: But they will also OWN the trailer. That should give them the incentive to pay up.

Daphnewood: When push came to shove and they were told to leave, they managed to find a great deal on a trailer and a place to park it within 24 hours. Mrs. A. is better already.

Michael: It's not the getting them to leave that is usually difficult, it's the fact that they keep coming back.
