Jigsaw

OK I admit it, I do jigsaw puzzles sometimes. I don't particularly like television, and I usually read books instead, but sometimes when I'm not feeling well, I don't have the concentration to read. Jigsaw puzzles are a good compromise. Growing up, we always had a jigsaw puzzle going on the card table. Anyone walking by would stop and put a piece or two in. It was a no stress no competition family activity. So when I'm not feeling particularly well, it is a calming, soothing activity that doesn't require a lot of thinking. Basic color pattern and shape recognition.
So Here's my Jigsaw Puzzle Joke.
One of my co-workers received a jigsaw puzzle for Christmas. Being an Engineer, he is sort of obsessive/compulsive, so it was an activity that appealed to him, making sense out of a pile of seemingly random pieces.
Well, he became obsessed with this one puzzle, so he took a leave of absence so he could finish it out without interruption.
When he completed the puzzle, he threw a party and invited everyone over.
Midway through the party, one of the guests asked him "Why the big deal?" he replied "It only took me six months to compete the puzzle, and it says right on the side of the box 'FIVE TO SEVEN YEARS'"

Al, I am thinking that you would fit right into my family. We just finished a puzzle and are getting ready to open another. My son had a 500 piece 3-D shark puzzle that really bruised our egos so we have been sticking to the 500 piece ones until we feel we are ready for more. I think puzzles are great for brain development.

I did the 500 piece 3D white House puzzle, and it was a challenge. However I am the only one I know that has done "The worlds Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle" This variety has pictures of cats on Both sides. Same picture, except rotated 90 degrees. all interior pieces have two holes and two bumps. It took me a couple of months to do, but I swore that once it was done, I would never attempt to do it again. I took it to work and gave it to someone else.(evil Al)

isnt it strange the way childhood activities durrng illness or stress have the power to soothe...eating favourite food from childhood can often achive the same calm ....oh, and another jigsaw joke for you:

a blonde sat in tears at a table. When her boyfriend asked why she explained that she'd begun a jigsaw of a tiger that looked quite fun, but not one of the pieces would fit with another one and she indicated to all the pieces spread out on the table.
Her boyfriend put his arm around her shoulders and said calmly
"Just put the Frosties back in the box darlin'"

enjoy ;)
